Weddings

So many people avoid using flowers because they think that they are too expensive especially the tall arrangements. SOOOO untrue!  Look at the gorgeous baby’s breath arrangements below.  All they need is a ribbon in one of your wedding colors to make them match your decor.

Just in case you were wondering, I still ❤ fall.  This dress makes me want to throw on an eggplant colored wrap and fab red  pumps and have a night on the town with my hubby.  Part of the reason why I like this color is because it is not too obnoxious and “orange-y”.  I love the little baby ruffles on the top of the dress in combination with the super simple style.  It really allows the bride to dress it up with fun colors and jewelry.  PS – this dress comes in tons of fun colors…it would be great at any time of the year!

From Watters & Watters.

I ❤ fall!  It is comfortably cool, has wonderful scents and tastes associated with it, and has a gorgeous color scheme.  If you are planning a fall wedding for next year, here are some fabulous, slightly untraditional colors that you should consider: eggplant and goldenrod.  They could be beautifully combined with reds and oranges to bring out the entire fall palate. I also just adore this flower girls dress from Watters & Watters.  It is not too grown up, but plays into the fun fabric flower trend that is so popular in adult clothing.

Combine one of these sweet dresses with this pomander = Gorgeous!

Tonight is my first normal night with my Bible Study of 11th and 12th grade girls this school year.  We are eating lasagna (mine is a.maz.ing) and dessert and spending a little time talking about Jesus.  Although I am super tired, I am really looking forward to the time with my girls!

Now that I have told you one piece of information that you do not need to know, here is your Dressy Wednesday:

Today’s dress would be a gorgeous bridesmaid dress for just about any body type!  It is from Watters and Watters and it comes in a bunch of fabulous colors.  I love the formality of the fabric and the shape mixed with the flirty and fun ruffle on the right shoulder (you know my love for one shouldered items).  It is the perfect mix!  Happy Wednesday!

Life is nutso!  So, I have class on Tuesday nights from 4:30 to 9:45 and don’t get home until 10:45.  Clearly, this makes me tired and slightly grumpy on Tuesdays and even more so on Wednesdays.  I am hoping to find a way to take a nap in my car or in a quiet spot in my building on Wednesdays.  I used to take a lot of naps when I worked for Duke.  I would walk out to my car (parked in a garage), let down my seat, set my phone alarm and nap away.  The key was to wake up in enough time to make sure that the awkward sleep lines on my face had plenty of time to fade before walking back into the office.  Have you ever done this?  If so, please make me feel better about it.  I feel like I am the only one who has the issue and I don’t think it is appropriate to nap under my desk.

I am sorry that we have missed a few dressy Wednesdays over the last few weeks.  I am hoping to prep them in advance for you!

Here goes:  This dress is from JLM Couture (Jim Heljm).  I love the lines of this dress.  From far away, it has a romantic simplicity, but from close up you can see the modern touches and flair that make it unique.

Hope your Wednesday is a little more calm and relaxed than mine!

Today is my last day at my old job, but it is going to be pure insanity because it is the day when all the new students arrive on campus.  I am pre-writing this post since I know I will not have any time to post on the 17th.  Tomorrow will be my first day at my new job…drinking from the fire hose before being thrown to the wolves next week.  YAY!  I am really excited but really nervous.  PRAY!

So…Dressy Wednesday:

David’s Bridal recently started selling a new dress line, White by Vera Wang.  I was intrigued because Vera Wang is such a prominent and upscale name in the bridal industry, so I took a little stroll through the online “aisles” of the new collection.  Here is what I found:

Dress 1:

I love the pleated taffeta layers!  They are on point with some of the current bridal style trends.  This dress is $1000.  I know that it sounds like a lot, but it really is a great deal in the bridal world.

Dress 2:

This organza flange skirt dress comes in a stunning blush tone (or ivory for the more traditional types).  I love the flattering gathers of the fitted bodice in contrast with the free flowing layers in the skirt of the dress.  (You know that I love a pink dress!)  This dress retails for $1200.

Dress 3:

This dress is the more structured and one shouldered version of dress 2.  It love the fitted satin bodice in contrast with the texture, layers and flow of the organza skirt.  It would be fab with a sash!  It is also $1200.

Dress 4:

The dreamy ballgown!  Love the sweet-heart neckline and simplicity.  Only $800!

Dress 5:

I adore the contrast between the ethereal tulle skirt and the traditional lace bodice.  So romantic.  Retails for $1200.

Overall the general consensus on White by Vera Wang is stylish and luxurious with a reasonable price tag.  I really love the line.  I hope to tackle some of the other products she is offering at David’s Bridal later this week.

Happy Wednesday!

Soooo…you know how I love pink, right?  Well, feast your eyes on this beauty:

The color is technically called “Sherbet”, but I think it has a lovely hint of pink to it.  For the more traditional brides it does come in white and ivory, but I think I would go for the pink.  It is unique without being over-the-top.  Plus, the dress is super flattering with the natural waist and the gathered bodice, and  I adore the sweet-heart neckline, the dropped V back and the jewel encrusted band of flowers at the waist.  The tulle skirt is airy enough to make the gown work for a summer or a winter wedding.

Ok.  I’ll stop now.  I just really love this dress.  It is from Lazaro’s spring 2011 line.
