As a kid, I loved theme birthday parties. Most of them were Minnie Mouse themed (even as a high school student), but none the less, a good theme is a great base for planning any party (especially a wedding). For my wedding we interwove my love for pink and green with our love for William and Mary (Go Tribe!). While it is not a super firm theme, it was a great jumping off point. We brought in old script-y fonts, traditional invitations and paper, and tables named after famous alum/founders (like Thomas Jefferson, John Tyler, James Monroe) as a nod to our very old Alma mater.
If you are thinking about a theme, it is wonderful to pick something that relates to you and your fiance (think cultural). Sometimes it affects the food choices, sometimes it affects the flowers, sometimes it affects the colors, and sometimes it affects every aspect of your big day. Comment on this post or email me if you are working on a theme and would like a little help. I would love to come up with a fabulous inspiration board for you.
Anywho – I loved this theme wedding that I saw on Hostess with the Mostess this morning. I think it leans towards an Indian or Moroccan theme. I love all of the vibrant colors, the use of beautiful fabrics and flowers, and the gorgeous invitation with a peacock feather (which is seen again in all of the arrangements and the on the cake).
